Arizona's Achieving A Better Life Experience (ABLE) Program
What is AZ ABLE?
AZ ABLE accounts allow people with disabilities to save and invest money. This account will not affect most public benefits like Medicaid or Social Security Supplemental Security Income (SSI). The Department of Economic Security administers AZ ABLE. It’s offered to Arizona residents through a partnership with Ohio’s STABLE Account Program.
What Are the Benefits?
- People with disabilities can save and invest more money.
- Before AZ ABLE, people could only save $2,000 before losing benefits.
- Earnings grow tax-free. People with AZ ABLE accounts don’t have to pay income tax on earnings. The money must be spent on Qualified Disability Expenses.
