The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (PL 117-328), established the permanent Summer EBT program beginning in Summer 2024.
DES continues to receive additional student records from the Department of Education (ADE) for processing.
ADE is reviewing and processing applications submitted through their online application portal. Eligible applicants will have their applications sent to DES to issue the SUN Bucks benefit. Applications for 23-24 school year ended July 31, 2024.

The SUN Bucks Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer program (SUN Bucks) is a partnership between the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES), and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) with the ADE as the lead agency for the state.
Students meeting the eligibility requirements will receive a one-time payment of $120.
