Each September, state workforce agencies recognize the contributions of workforce professionals and the initiatives that support job seekers and employers. In Arizona, the Department of Economic Security (DES) and ARIZONA@WORK have no-cost employment services to help you prepare whether you're seeking employment or ready for a new career. No matter your background or skill level, you can connect with local experts to find the tools you need, including:
Job Assessment: Let a workforce specialist help you assess your interests and skills to identify career options in a field that’s right for you.
Job Market Trends: Learn about Arizona’s in-demand occupations to determine if your chosen career has vacancies in your community. Also, utilize labor market information to get an idea of which industries are expected to grow in Arizona, their average pay, and more.
Skills Development: DES and ARIZONA@WORK workforce specialists can help you develop the hard and soft workforce skills needed to obtain a great career. Hard skills development may improve abilities including typing, building, and using equipment, while soft skills focus on the intangible abilities related to effective performance.
Training: Do you need additional training, education, or certification to land your dream job? Workforce specialists can connect you to the resources you need, and you may also qualify to have any associated costs covered for you. Workforce specialists can also help you identify if a Registered Apprenticeship—where you can earn an income while you train on the job—is a good option for you.
Job Search: Workforce specialists can help you create a digital resume and search for jobs on Arizona’s largest jobs database, the Arizona Job Connection (AJC) website. Search thousands of job vacancies on AJC and get matched with hiring employers in your field of interest.
Resume and Interview Assistance: Creating an effective resume and going on job interviews can be overwhelming endeavors. Let ARIZONA@WORK help you impress hiring employers by preparing the type of resume employers seek and learning the skills needed to ace your job interviews.
Specialized Services for Veterans: Arizona’s workforce team understands the barriers that many veterans face when reentering the civilian workforce and has designated staff on hand to ease this transition. Our veteran staff can help service members translate their military experience into the civilian skills employers look for, remove barriers that might interfere with employment, cover workforce-related expenses, and offer additional specialized services to meet the specific needs of the Veteran.
Vocational Rehabilitation: The Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program supports job seekers with disabilities in reaching their employment goals. Job seekers with mental or physical impairments (including mental illness and learning disabilities) may qualify for VR assistance.
Arizona’s Google Career Certificate Program: DES and ARIZONA@WORK are partnering with Google to provide Arizona job seekers with scholarships to improve their employability skills through online professional-level training from Google. No experience is necessary and you can learn at your own pace! Visit the Grow with Google web page to learn more or Apply now!
