7 Ways ARIZONA@WORK Helps Veterans
ARIZONA@WORK is dedicated to assisting veterans reenter the workforce by providing efficient employment and job training opportunities. Whether in Nogales or Page, there is a workforce center close by that is ready to help veterans remove obstacles and find a fulfilling job. Here are 7 ways ARIZONA@WORK serves those who have served our country.
- Job and Resume Preparation
Veterans are a deeply respected part of the community, and there are many employers seeking to hire disciplined individuals who have served their country. ARIZONA@WORK staff help veterans prepare a solid resume by translating their military experience into civilian verbiage that employers can understand and value. Veterans also receive help finding a job opening that’s the right fit, learn useful interview techniques and skills training, and much more.
- The Veteran Toolkit
The Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services Veteran Toolkit Program is a resource veterans can utilize to attain the supplies they need for a recently acquired job. The Toolkit can help cover transportation costs, work clothing, equipment and more, and assistance is available at ARIZONA@WORK offices statewide.
- Free Hotel Stays for Employment-Related Travel
Through the Hilton Honors Military Rewards Program eligible veterans, spouses and transitioning service members can stay at Hilton hotels at no-cost for employment-related travel. Newly registered participants will receive a 100,000-point donation to support travel related to job search activities as well.
- Veterans Helping Veterans
All ARIZONA@WORK Veterans Service staff are veterans themselves. Some veterans staff have similar stories to the clients walking through the doors and talking with somebody who has a similar background and experiences can make the process smoother and more enjoyable.
- Priority of Service
Eligible veterans and their spouses are given Priority of Service at ARIZONA@WORK, meaning they qualify to receive employment assistance prior to other clients. Supporting veterans is a high priority for ARIZONA@WORK and helping them as soon — and as efficiently — as possible is every center’s goal.
- Accommodations for Disabilities
ARIZONA@WORK can connect veteran job seekers with disabilities to specialized tools and resources to help them obtain gainful employment. ARIZONA@WORK also partners with community programs to which it can refer veterans if additional support is needed.
- Large Network of Employers
ARIZONA@WORK veteran staff have worked hard building a network of Arizona employers who are ready and willing to add veteran job seekers to their labor force. Employers that network with ARIZONA@WORK come from various types of industries, so finding the perfect opportunity is less challenging.
