Home and Community-Based therapy services may be available to Division members who are also eligible for the Arizona Long-Term Care System (ALTCS). There are different therapy types.
Home and Community-Based therapy services include Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).
This service enhances and develops a member’s functional abilities. OT focuses on improving fine motor skills, coordination, and life skills. It helps members join in daily life activities.
This service restores and improves functionality, reduces pain, and prevents disability after an injury or disease. PT focuses on movement through exercise, manual therapy, and functional training.
This service diagnoses and treats speech, language, and voice disorders. It also helps improve communication, flow of speech, and swallowing skills. This helps prevent disorders in these areas.
Therapy services must be approved before they can begin. A member’s primary care provider, attending physician, or nurse practitioner must certify a plan of care for all therapy services. Medicaid requires a licensed therapist to conduct or supervise all authorized services.
Members with questions can contact their Support Coordinator, or the DDD Customer Service Center at 1-844-770-9500, option 1.
