The Healthy Living (CDSMP) self-management workshops are for people with ongoing health problems to provide information for managing those problems more effectively. Anyone with a chronic condition such as diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, asthma, multiple sclerosis, or any other on-going health problem should participate. Caregivers or family members who serve as caregivers are welcomed. Workshops are guided by trained leaders who live with chronic conditions and offered in community settings. The workshop is 2 ½ hours per week, for 6 weeks and cost varies by location.
Topics covered include:
- Dealing with difficult emotions
- Managing symptoms
- Increasing strength and stamina through better fitness
- Problem solving
- Understanding medications
- Making informed treatment decisions
- Goal setting
