The Administration for Community Living is looking for feedback on proposed updates to the regulations for most of its Older American Act (OAA) programs. The last substantial update was in 1988.
Input from people served by OAA programs and the aging and disability networks is particularly crucial.
The proposed rule includes creating regulations for family caregivers; changing regulations regarding meal delivery based on COVID-era insights; adding clarifications to elder abuse protection, legal assistance, guardianship, and long-term care ombudsman programs; requiring state agencies and Area Agencies on Aging to create emergency plans; more specific emphases on tribal elders, Native Hawaiian grantees, and people with the greatest economic and social needs, and many other updates.
Visit acl.gov/OAArule for more information and how to submit feedback.
