Bold, compassionate, dependable, solid. Those are just a few of the words used to describe Director Trailor by his peers. A man of solid values, always striving to do what’s right, Director Trailor took the lead in the State of Arizona for ending chronic homelessness in our communities.
On Friday, he was honored at the “iamhome” breakfast hosted by the Human Services Campus (HSC), where the organization celebrated and recognized staff, volunteers and clients who give of their time to help those in need.
Joined by his peers, advocates and community partners, Director Trailor received the Mike McQuaid Collaboration Award. Mike McQuaid led the effort to build and manage the Human Services Campus that houses more than 20 agencies working together to end homelessness. HSC serves around 7,000 (unduplicated) people a year.
"I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award than Mike Trailor,” said Mike McQuaid. “I am humbled to have my name be a part of this honor to Mike's long time commitment to our community. He is a true champion of the underserved populations, and his hard work has led to thousands of housing opportunities for those experiencing homelessness."
Stemming from his passionate advocacy to help the vulnerable in our communities, Director Trailor was appointed to lead the Department of Economic Security by Governor Ducey earlier this year.
“I congratulate Director Trailor on this well-deserved recognition,” said Governor Ducey. The dedicated public servants at DES carry out the vital mission of helping those in need, and Director Trailor continues to lead by example.”
Through the collaborative approach of the HSC, hundreds of clients have daily access to social support services, job assistance, convenience items, education and housing opportunities. Public and private partnerships continue to be the backbone of these vital community services.
“The Arizona Department of Housing would like to congratulate DES Director Trailor on receiving this award,” said Carol Ditmore, Department of Housing Director. “His enduring commitment to serve Arizona’s most vulnerable citizens is made evident through his continued efforts in his new post.”
DES is proud to have a leader like Director Trailor who has a solid reputation for being proactive in getting the results needed to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Filled with energy, motivation and determination, Director Trailor’s goal for the Department is to be the best human services agency in the nation by putting our employees and clients first with human compassion and the identification of efficiencies and improved effectiveness utilizing the Arizona Management System.
