Child Support - Legislative Review
Legislative Review
Two new laws, HB2139 and HB2192, aim to increase collections from noncustodial parents who owe child support by providing the DES Division of Child Support Services some additional tools.
Currently
DES has the ability to issue income withholding orders on insurance settlements, but doesn't always find out about them.
Now
This new provision establishes a voluntary data match program with insurance companies to help DES.
More Posts
DES will be able to post on the internet a child support evader who owes twelve months or more in back payments.
Ability to Work
Evaders who owe at least six months in back child support can get a restricted license, allowing them to continue working.
