9/11 Commemoration

As proud Americans, we can all agree that September 11th changed our way of life forever. Perhaps for the first time ever, citizens felt unsafe in their home country as shock waves reverberated throughout the nation.

In just a few short days, and perhaps even today, ceremonies will commemorate those fateful hours of terrorism on American soil. And while the events occurred 15 years ago, many of us remember them as if they were yesterday.

Tragic and horrific images were burned in our memories. Lives were lost. Our sense of security was shaken. But as a nation, we grew stronger.

Drawing on the strength and courage of one another, we began to rebuild almost immediately. Nothing displayed the American spirit of resilience that day more than this incredible image taken at Ground Zero. In the midst of chaos and horror, three fellow Americans felt inspired to raise the flag over the rubble as a symbol of our freedom and hope. It was a message to all that we would not be defeated and we would heal.
