The Jobs Program is Arizona’s mandatory employment and training program for work-eligible individuals, generally adults, in households receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Cash Assistance. The program engages people in a variety of work-related activities to increase their employable skillset, and may offer supportive and some specialized services to remove barriers to employment. These activities and supportive services are provided to encourage and promote self-sufficiency through employment at the earliest opportunity.
The Jobs Program’s case management and employment services are operated by two private vendors:
- MAXIMUS, which serves Maricopa County;
- Arbor/ResCare Workforce Services, which serves residents throughout the remaining counties in Arizona.
The Department is responsible for determining a household’s eligibility for Cash Assistance. Once approved (or pre-approved in some cases) for these benefits, all work-eligible individuals are referred to the Jobs Program contractors to receive case management and employment services.
Participation in work activities through the Jobs Program work is generally part of the federal requirement for receiving Cash Assistance.
