Just as no two people are completely alike, no two DDD members are completely alike. Because DDD members vary in age, and have a diverse set of priorities and situations, DDD offers multiple categories of membership. For example, some DDD members are eligible for Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS), and other members are not.

Arizona Early Intervention Program
Any child from birth to three years of age who has a developmental delay or an established condition may be eligible for the Arizona Early Intervention Program (AzEIP). Early Intervention is a process in which a group of professionals, such as therapists and educators, works with in partnership with parents and families of children with special needs to support the child’s growth, development, and learning. Early intervention uses a team approach to assist the family and to help support the needs of the child.

DD-Only Support Coordination
DDD provides support coordination for people who are DDD eligible, but do not qualify for the Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS). A support coordinator will assist the person in connecting with community resources.
Targeted Support Coordination
The Division offers Targeted Support Coordination (TSC) for people who are enrolled in the AHCCCS Medical Benefits program, but are not eligible for ALTCS. TSC provides support to the individual by assisting in identifying community resources and helping to coordinate acute care services. For persons under age 21, Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment services are covered. These services are provided by the person’s AHCCCS health plan.
AHCCCS determines if an individual is eligible for Targeted services. People who have Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible for AHCCCS Medical Benefits, and thus, DDD’s Targeted Support Coordination program.
Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS)
ALTCS is an Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Medical Assistance Program. ALTCS provides long term services to eligible individuals who meet financial and medical requirements, are developmentally disabled, and have a medical need. See the ALTCS Handbook for more information about services and supports provided through DDD ALTCS.

ALTCS Transitional Program
At the time of medical reassessment, some members show significant medical and/or functional improvement and no longer need the level of care that is provided at an intermediate care or nursing facility. However, these members may continue to need long term care services and supports. The ALTCS Transition Program allows members to continue receiving all medically necessary ALTCS covered services. However, placement in a nursing home or intermediate care facility is limited to 90 calendar days per year.
