Equal Opportunity and Reasonable Accommodation

Pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other nondiscrimination laws and authorities, the Arizona Department of Economic Security (ADES) does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. These services are provided at no cost when requested.

Changes to Policies and Procedures

The Department will make reasonable changes to its policies and programs at no cost. These changes help people with disabilities have equal access to programs, services, and activities.

For example, service animals are allowed in DES offices, even if pets are not normally allowed.

If you think your disability may prevent you from fully participating in a program or activity, please let us know as early as possible.

You may request:

  • An auxiliary aid or service
  • A reasonable change to a policy or procedure

The Department does not have to make changes that would:

  • Change the basic nature of a program, service, activity
  • Create a major financial or administrative burden

Request a Reasonable Accommodation/Modification

Notify the DES employee that you need a change or adjustment to a program requirement because of a medical condition. You can submit your request verbally or in writing.
