Not a biological parent? You can still receive child support services!
According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, there were 57,000 Arizona children in kinship care from 2022-2024. Kinship care is when a child lives with a relative–like a grandparent, aunt or uncle–because their parents are not able to care for them.
If you’re a guardian with court-ordered physical custody of a child for 30 consecutive days, you are eligible to receive services. The DES Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) can help you establish a child support order, which results in a monthly obligation for the support of the child by both parents when a child is in foster care or in the care of a guardian or relative.
Child support services can also assist with establishing legal paternity for the children in your care and collecting the court-ordered obligation.
Don’t miss out on an opportunity to receive services that can help you take care of a child in your care! Get started with child support services.
