Children and adults who live in Arizona can get an ID card. It is a good idea to have an Arizona State Identification (ID) Card if you don’t have an Arizona driver’s license.

People aged 65 or older can get an ID card for free. People receiving Federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability checks may also qualify for a free card.

- Age 65 and older: no fee
- Recipients of Supplemental Security Income: no fee

What Records do I need to have to get an Arizona State Identification (ID) Card?

Types of records are listed below with examples.
- Bring One Document: Proof of Identity or who you are (Birth certificate; U.S. Passport; Passport Card). Visit the Vital Check website to apply if you need a certified copy of an Arizona birth certificate.
- Social Security Number (you will need your complete Social Security number)
- Visit the Social Security Administration website and set up an account to order a replacement Social Security card.
- Bring Two Documents that show you live in Arizona. For example, you can bring utility bills, credit card/bank statements, or an insurance policy. You must complete an Arizona Residency Affidavit if you do not have documents that prove you live in Arizona. It can be found on the Arizona MVD website.
- You must show legal proof of name change if your current legal name is different from the one shown on a document. For example, you can bring a marriage certificate, divorce decree, adoption papers, or court order.

Arizona Travel ID
Starting May 7, 2025, if you plan to travel by airplane, you can only use:
- An Arizona Travel ID
- A U.S. passport and
- Other federally approved identification
A Travel ID costs $25.
