Area Agencies on Aging

Area Agencies on Aging offer a variety of services to senior citizens and individuals who have disabilities, including transportation. The Area Agencies on Aging are located in communities throughout Arizona.You can find the agency in your area by searching their online directory.

Centers for Independent Living

In addition to a host of other services, some of Arizona’s Centers for Independent Living (CIL) provide non-emergency transportation to medical appointments, jobs, social activities and CIL-related events. Some CILS also offer travel training where you can learn the overall transit system and how to use city transportation so that you can be more independent in the community. You may be required to pay for transportation services; however, ask about travel vouchers that might be available to help defray costs. Contact the CIL in your area about the availability of transportation services and travel training.

Community Information & Referral is the key source of integrated information that brings people and services together every day to meet vital needs throughout Arizona.Their vision is for all people to have easy access to information about the full range of health, human, and emergency services provided in Arizona communities.

24-Hour Help Hotline: Community Information & Referral receives thousands of calls every year on their 24-Hour Help Hotline from Arizona residents in need of help.They can also find help outside of someone’s service area.Their trained, bilingual (English/Spanish) Information & Referral Specialists refer people to available resources 24 hours a day, every day of the year.This service is anonymous and free to the public.When you call, please have a pen and paper handy so they may give you all the information you'll need.

Ask family, friends and relatives to provide transportation or help arrange transportation with someone they know.

ProviderSearch.com is a web-based tool designed to help families and professionals connect. This site was developed to assist families in their search for professionals who can help work with their loved ones with special needs. Families can search for staff at their leisure and agencies can display a detailed list of their employees who are available to work.

Public Transportation

Your community may offer public transportation, such as buses, Ride Share, Route-Based Shuttle Services, Door-to-Door pick up services, and Dial-A-Ride. Check with your City or County Government.

SWIft® Resources of Arizona

SWIft® Resources of Arizona is an online system that connects users to community and statewide resource information for children, youth and adult, their families, professionals and community members. It is a project of Building Community Health in Arizona: Statewide Implementation of Integrated Services, supported by a grant from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) awarded to the Southwest Institute for Families.
