If you received P-EBT for Summer 2022
For eligible school-aged children, we will be adding the Summer 2023 benefit to the case number and P-EBT card that was sent to you for P-EBT Summer 2022. (View the sample X035 P-EBT letter)
Households should make sure their school has the current mailing address on file.
Each Summer 2023 P-EBT eligible child will receive a benefit of $120.
DES will begin processing the school-aged children for their Summer P-EBT benefits starting late July/early August 2023.
The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) participating schools will identify Summer 2023 P-EBT eligible school-aged children. Children who don’t already qualify for free or reduced-price meals, or attend a school on a Special Provision Option, are encouraged to submit an NSLP household application to their school before the end of School Year 2022-2023. Applications must be submitted by the last day of school, or June 30, 2023, whichever comes first.
What school-aged children are automatically eligible for Summer P-EBT?
Students who were eligible for free or reduced-price meals during the 2022-2023 school year at an NSLP participating school and enrolled during the last calendar month of the school year are eligible for Summer P-EBT and no action is needed by the household to receive the benefit.
Students enrolled during the last calendar month of the school year in a NSLP site participating in Community Eligibility Provision, Provision 2 or Provision 3 cycle are eligible for Summer P-EBT and no action is needed by the household to receive the benefit.
Households should make sure their school has the current mailing address on file.

With the public health emergency ending on May 11, 2023, children in childcare will not be eligible for the 2023 Summer P-EBT benefit. The Arizona State Plan will be for School Children only.
Note: Families who were on the SNAP program during the 2022/2023 school year and have children under the age of 6 will have this additional benefit added to their existing SNAP EBT card.
If you are not already receiving Nutrition Assistance benefits, consider applying for SNAP.
Additionally, DES and its community partners offer other food assistance programs to increase food security and reduce hunger by providing children, low-income individuals, and seniors with access to nutritious food. Learn more about additional food assistance programs.
Need help finding other food resources for your child(ren)? Text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304 during the summer months to find a site near you with free meals for kids.
