For years, a mother tried to share the financial responsibility of her daughter with her father. The situation appeared hopeless, until the mother opened a case with the DES Division of Child Support Services (DCSS).
When Child Support Services Officer, Erika, began to manage the case, she was able to make contact with the other parent who had stopped paying because he thought his obligations had already been met. She informed the other parent of his court ordered obligation and helped him understand why there was a remaining balance. "[Erika] has been truly an outstanding officer and a blessing in the life of me and my daughter," said mom.
Erika also helped the other parent plan payments to meet his obligation. "I was able to apply the funds to care for my daughter and her needs, big and small," said mom. Their child graduated with high achievements recently and the case closed last month. "Now, my family can move on with our lives without worry," she said. "I appreciate [Erika] for her diligence and the hard work she does for the families in need."
DCSS can communicate between parents to come to a resolution to address past due payments, reducing the need for direct contact between parents in potentially complicated situations.
