Voter Rights for the Disabled
The United States will vote for a new president in the General Election on November 5, 2024. Arizona residents will also get to vote for a new senator, as well as many other local representatives.
Voting lets your voice be heard. It’s a chance to have a say in how your representatives run your city, state, and country. Make sure you’re registered to vote by October 7, 2024 so you can vote in the 2024 General Election.
If you’re an Arizona resident, it’s important to know your voting rights and form a plan to vote.
Who Can Vote?
To vote in Arizona, you need to meet certain criteria. If you meet these criteria, you have a right to vote in Arizona elections.
The Arizona Secretary of State website says you are qualified to register to vote in the 2024 General Election if you:
- Are a United States citizen
- Will be 18 years old by November 5, 2024
- Have been an Arizona resident for at least 29 days before November 5, 2024
- Can write your name or make your mark, unless a physical disability prevents you from doing so
- Have not been convicted of treason or a felony, unless your civil rights have been restored
- Have not been found mentally incapacitated by a court
Important Dates for Voting and Voter Registration
The Arizona Secretary of State website lists important deadlines for the upcoming General Election. Below are the most important dates for you to remember:
- October 7, 2024 - The last day you can register to vote in the General Election. You can check your voter registration status at Arizona Secretary of State website. You can register to vote at Service Arizona.
- October 9, 2024 - Early voting begins. This means if you registered to get a ballot in the mail, it will be sent to you starting October 9, 2024.
- October 25, 2024 - The last day the State can accept ballots by mail. This means if you are voting with a ballot you got in the mail, send it back BEFORE October 25, 2024.
- November 5, 2024 - The day of the General Election. You can vote in-person on this day. If you got a ballot in the mail and never sent it back, you can also drop it off at a polling place on this day.
If you receive your ballot in the mail, always remember to sign the envelope and include your phone number. Without your signature, the State won’t count your vote.
IDs Needed to Vote
As a voter in Arizona, you’re also called a “qualified elector.” The Arizona Secretary of State website says you need to show proof of identity before voting in Arizona.
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, acceptable forms of ID for voting in Arizona include:
- Valid Arizona driver's license
- Valid Arizona non-driver identification
- Tribal enrollment card or other form of tribal identification
- Valid U.S. federal, state or local government issued identification
- Utility bill dated within 90 days of the election
- Bank or credit union statement dated within 90 days of the election
- Valid Arizona vehicle registration
- Indian census card
- Property tax statement
- Vehicle insurance card
- Recorder’s certificate
If you register for an early ballot, you may need to provide identification at the time you sign up for early voting. If you vote in-person on Election Day, make sure to bring proper identification with you.

If you vote in-person on November 5, 2024 or drop off the ballot you got in the mail, you need to know your polling place. But where can you find it?
