The Division of Developmental Disabilities welcomes input from people with disabilities, their families, providers, advocates, community partners and other stakeholders as we improve our services and supports. DDD invites you to participate on the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Council, or on any of the other committees listed below.
- Developmental Disabilities Advisory Council
The Developmental Disabilities Advisory Council (DDAC) is an advisory council to the Assistant Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities on matters relating to developmental disabilities. The mission of the DDAC is to provide, in partnership with the Division of Developmental Disabilities, advisory oversight on behalf of consumers, families and providers.
- DDD Human Rights Committees
The Human Rights Committees are groups of local citizens who provide independent oversight in matters related to the rights of people with developmental disabilities who are served by the Division.
- Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) for Infants and Toddlers
As required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Governor of Arizona has established a State Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) for Infants and Toddlers made up of family members, providers, state agency representatives and other community members. The ICC advises and assists the Department of Economic Security, Arizona Early Intervention Program (DES/AzEIP), and its partner agencies to administer, promote, coordinate and improve early intervention for families and professionals.
- Program Review Committee
The Program Review Committee (PRC) reviews any behavior treatment plans that meet the criteria outlined in Article 9 Managing Inappropriate Behaviors (Arizona Revised Statutes) regarding managing behaviors that are challenging to others. Members of the committees include a direct care worker who provides habilitation services, a psychologist, psychiatrist or Board Certified Behavioral Analyst, a parent of an individual with a developmental disability, and others. The PRC reviews and approves behavior treatment plans, or makes recommendations for changes as necessary. - Stakeholder Workgroups
The Division of Developmental Disabilities engages individuals, families, advocates and providers to continuously improve the system. Check the DES Meetings and Events Calendar to find out when the next stakeholder meetings, Gemba walks and Kaizen events are scheduled.
- State Operated Intermediate Care Facilities Governing Body
The Governing Body develops, monitors and revises, as necessary, policies and operating directions which ensure the necessary staffing, training resources, equipment and environment to provide members with active treatment and to provide for their health and safety in intermediate care facilities. Direction by the Governing Body includes areas such as health, safety, sanitation, maintenance and repair, and utilization and management of staff.

- Arizona Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act Oversight Committee
An Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) account is a savings program to provide persons with disabilities, their family and friends, the option to contribute to a tax-exempt savings account for disability-related expenses. The seven-member Arizona ABLE Act Oversight Committee makes recommendations and provides guidance for the establishment, implementation, and improvement of the program, including statutory and rule changes.
- Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (ADDPC)
ADDPC rovides original research, education, advocacy and financial support to help Arizona residents with developmental disabilities and their families with employment, self-advocacy and community inclusion. Its mission is to develop and support capacity building and systemic change to increase inclusion and involvement of people with developmental disabilities in their communities through the promotion of self-determination, independence and dignity in all aspects of life.
