A Matter of Balance classes educate seniors how to make changes to their life and home to reduce the risk of falling, set goals for increasing activity, and exercises to increase strength and balance. Seniors who are appropriate for the classes are concerned about falls, have sustained falls in the past, restrict activities because of concerns about falling, are interested in improving flexibility, balance and strength and are age 60 or older, ambulatory and able to problem solve.
The class is eight, two-hour sessions for a small group led by a trained facilitator. To find out where classes are offered in your area or if you are interested in offering a workshop to your organization, please contact your local Area Agency on Aging (AAA).
