On March 11, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) was signed into law. While DES works to implement the extension of benefits in accordance with U.S. Department of Labor guidelines, please continue to file weekly certifications. You do not need to reapply for benefits. Per the federal law, individuals who have exhausted benefits will not be eligible for weeks of benefits prior to March 14, 2021. Certifications for the first week of the extension can be filed and will be payable beginning March 21, 2021. DES is evaluating the legislation and we expect additional guidance from the U.S. Department of Labor. We will provide guidance to individuals impacted by this legislation as we have additional details.
