Shawn Julius Sellers is the Tribal Relations Liaison for the Arizona Department of Economic Security (ADES). In addition to managing the ADES Office of Tribal Relations, Shawn serves as the primary point of contact for all American Indian Tribal Nations throughout Arizona to address the social service-related needs from Tribes as well as adhering to Tribal Government Consultation policies/procedures. Prior to ADES, Shawn worked for the Arizona Department of Child Safety in a variety of roles including Tribal Liaison, Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Intergovernmental Statewide Liaison, ICWA Unit Supervisor, and ICWA Unit Case Manager. In addition to collaborating with Tribes, Shawn has also previously worked for the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe and the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe. Shawn is also an active member in the community as he is the Board President for the Native Health Board of Directors, appointed member on the Arizona Advisory Council on Indian Health Care, and a state agency member on the Urban Indian Coalition of Arizona. Shawn is Diné and is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. His Diné clans are Áshįįhí (Salt People) and Bįįh Bitoodnii (Deer Spring). Shawn graduated from Brown University (Providence, RI) in 2008. Originally from Parker, AZ, Shawn now resides in Phoenix, AZ.
